The Genome Informatics Facility at Iowa State University is seeking a motivated bioinformatics analyst, Assistant Scientist II or III, who is interested in solving challenging and interesting biological questions using bioinformatics tools and knowledge about the organism under study. This individual will improve the efficiency of scientific discovery out of the large volumes of data brought on by the revolution in sequencing technology.
The position will be responsible for facilitating data analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data for faculty on campus. This includes but is not limited to training of students/postdocs, downloading data, processing of data using open source tools, generation of text for methods and generation of figures for publication.
The successful candidate will need to be able to assimilate information quickly, possess a basic knowledge in all branches of life (plant, animal and microorganism/virus), and have the ability to communicate effectively. Due to the dynamic nature of the emerging field of genomics, this individual will have a documented positive work ethic, a passion for learning and an enthusiasm for challenges.
