NYU CGSB Core Facility Technician Position

The NYU Center for Genomics and Systems Biology seeks a full-time laboratory technician to assist in the core facility operations. This job requires experience in molecular biology as well as excellent organizational and problem solving skills. The center runs a core facility that includes flow cytometry, sequencing, robotics and other instruments. The technician will assist in preparing libraries for Next-Gen sequencing, running liquid handling robots, and helping run other instruments in the core. The job also entails training technicians and other center staff on instruments, and frequent contact with center staff. Projects in the center include microbiome studies, algal biofuels, and other research initiatives in the NYU Biology Department. The center is located one block from Washington Square in New York City's Greenwich Village neighborhood in a collegial environment in a new science building. Applicants with a bachelor's or master's degree in biology, chemistry or life science field are the most appropriate candidates for the position. Those interested should send their CV and cover letter to carrieDOTnygardATnyuDOTedu with the subject heading: "NYU Core Technician".

NYU is an equal opportunity employer.

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
