As Laboratory Operations Scientist you will be responsible for optimization and troubleshooting all lab processes, protocols, and instrumentation in a rapidly growing next generation sequencing facility. Responsibilities will also include interpretation of sequencing and bioinformatics QC analysis to ensure the highest quality standards.

    Job Responsibilities:
    • Evaluate current sequencing operation procedures for their optimization and improvement.
    • Develop tools to monitor equipment more effectively to ensure high quality data.
    • Support process optimization through QC analytics.
    • Train employees on optimized processes and troubleshooting strategies.
    • Contribute to the development of Standard Operating Procedures.
    • Provide support to the lab as needed, including sample QC, library prep, sequencing, and lab audits.
    • Help with the development and implementation of a laboratory information management system.
    • Work with Project Management and other teams/departments to ensure project deadlines are achieved.
    • Interpret QC data and troubleshoot laboratory protocols and data analysis.
    • Implement and execute QC measures critical to experiment design and process execution.

    Candidate Profile:
    • Advanced degree in Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry or related field plus laboratory experience in nucleic acid research required, PhD preferred;
    • 5+ years of demonstrated experience in a molecular Biology Lab with at least 3+ years of experience in NGS;
    • Demonstrated skill in troubleshooting techniques, interpreting run analysis data, run quality assessment, and routine machine maintenance and repair;
    • Excellent communication skills, detail oriented, and highly motivated;
    • Solid knowledge of molecular biology techniques and related protocols and equipment;

    16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

    NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

    Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

    Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

    Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
