The Max Planck Institute for Immunobiology in Freiburg, Germany invites applications for a
Data Manager / Programmer
to support the activities of the Bioinformatics group (50%) and the IT department (50%) at the institute. The position is available immediately for an initial two-year appointment. Part-time employment is possible.
We are looking for motivated team players with strong communication skills and the desire to work in a dynamic environment. The successful applicant will have good programming skills and be familiar with bioinformatic tools and sequence analysis.
Qualifications:
- Master degree in informatics/bioinformatics or equivalent
- experience with Unix/Linux operating system
- knowledge of C/C++ and a skripting language (e.g. perl)
- experience with database management (e.g. MySQL)
Tasks:
- database management and maintenance
- development of web servers and user interfaces
- development and optimization of analysis pipelines
- software evaluation, testing, upgrades and documentation
- data standardization
Salaries will be based on previous experience according to TVöD guidelines. A childcare facility is directly attached to the MPI of Immunobiology.
