Two Positions at Research Center Juelich

    Dear SeqAnswers Members

at the moment we have two positions availble:

    1)
    A postdoctoral position

The ideal candidate will have a strong computing background combined with experience working on large biological data sets. They will be expected to be familiar with current web technologies and be able to design, implement and maintain both the front and back end. A good knowledge of relational and non-relational databases and their implementations is an advantage. The capacity to work independently and in collaboration with both biologist and bioinformaticials is essential.

The research within the group encompasses both biological and bioinformatics aspects. Developing novel tools and applications for use within the group and the greater scientific community is the main driving force.

Interested candidates should apply at the the following web site.

    2)

A core infrastructure management position is currently available in IBG2 at the Forschungszentrum Jülich

The candidate for this position will have a extensive hardware and system administration knowledge. The administration and maintenance of multiple servers containing storage and processing nodes will be central to this position. Task include, but are not limited to, installation, maintaining and upgrading the core bioinformatics infrastructure, network administration and database design and provisioning.

Interested candidates should apply at the the following web site.

If you have any questions don't hesitate to contact me.

    Best Wishes
    Björn

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
