Epigenomics Laboratory (Hawkins Lab)
The Epigenomics Group at the Turku Centre for Biotechnology has an available Postdoctoral position for a computational biologist to specialize in epigenomic informatics. The research will focus on investigating the role of epigenomics in gene regulation, 3D architecture and cell fate commitment, with a focus on stem cells and disease. This will require developing and utilizing computational approaches for the analysis of diverse epigenomic datasets from human and mouse systems.
We utilize ChIP-seq, DNA methylation, transcriptomes, DHS-seq/ATAC-seq & 4C-seq/HiC for projects in diverse areas that include hESC differentiation, neurodevelopment and diseases, cancer stem cells, blood progenitor cells and related diseases. The successful applicant will have the opportunity to lead the integrative analysis of these genome-wide data.
Candidates must have a PhD in computational biology/bioinformatics/biology with expertise in high-throughput analysis. The candidates should have experience in NGS processing and integrative analysis of experimental datasets such as those listed above. Demonstrable skills in programming, biostatistics, database languages (e.g. Python/Perl, shell scripting, R/MATLAB, SQLite/MYSQL/NoSQL) are essential. Good written and verbal communication skills are required. Applicant must be highly motivated and work as well in a group as independently.
Salary will be based on the Universities salary scheme for teaching and research personnel. The task specific salary component is at level 5 (2840.64 €/month), and the component based on personal work performance (max. 46%) is added to the task specific salary. There is a trial period of four months in the position.
The position is initially for a year (from November 1st 2014 or later as agreed upon) with a possibility to extend further. The position must be applied by October 19th in the electronic recruitment system (the link below).
