  • Post-doc: Next-generation sequencing & bioinformatics

Where: Department of Genetics, University Medical Center Groningen, The Netherlands
    When: as soon as possible

Are you interested in the highly exciting next generation sequencing technologies?
Do you have a strong background in molecular biology?
Do you like to work in a dynamic genetics and bioinformatics team at the fore-front of research?
Then YOU could be the ideal candidate for us!

We have a state-of-the-art set up in our department for next generation sequencing and a fast growing bio-informatics team. We need someone at a post-doc level to take the lead in this fast evolving field and to help us to further our strategies for innovative research and diagnostic applications.

We are looking for a motivated postdoctoral fellow with interest to develop, implement and apply analytical protocols for data generated on next-generation sequencing platforms. You will become part of our fast growing team that is embedded in highly productive genetics and bioinformatics departments (>15 publications in Nature journals).

We offer a full-time contract for a period of 2 to 5 years.
For information about our group see: www.geneticsgroningen.nl or contact dr. M.A. Swertz ([email protected]) or prof. dr. R.J. Sinke ([email protected])

    Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

    Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
    by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
