The incumbent will be overseeing and working with a group of Bioinformatics scientist, program Analysts, and administrative support staff, who are responsible for carrying out these collaborative research projects both with the intramural and extramural scientist. Serving as a key advisor and consultant- for the division director in bioinformatics and computational genomics issues, policies, and program directions related to genomics research,
The incumbent will be collaborating with the other intramural and extramural divisions scientist in leading the Institute's genomics research programs; this involves collectively managing biomedical informatics resources, research and training to achieve division goals. Serve as the division spokesperson for research and broader implications of areas encompassed by genomics and bioinformatics research. Provide leadership and scientific expertise in the planning and implementation of supported biomedical informatics and computation genomics studies or activities. Serve as Program/Project Officer to develop, coordinate, and administer research projects, cooperative agreements, and contracts established to fulfill the mission of the branch and division.

The incumbent will be responsible for Bioinformatics and computational genomics analyses in order to translate genetic and genomic observations into insights concerning diseases etiology. To this end, the incumbent will be developing bioinformatics tools and carrying out analyses to support biomedical informatics and computational genomics research needs relating to human diseases. The incumbent should proficient in the bioinformatics analysis tools using current technology such genome-wide generation of multidimensional molecular data assessing copy number alterations, nucleotide substitutions, insertion/deletions, rearrangements, and epigenetic changes. Furthermore, next generation sequencing technology provides complete gene and genome sequence. The bioinformatics team has created approaches and tools to integrate, display, and interpret these diverse, systems-wide data generated by the next generation sequencing. Requires a robust systems platform to support their development, analysis and collaboration efforts

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
