    Description
A Computational Biologist/Bioinformaticist is sought to join the lab of Debashish Bhattacharya (http://dblab.rutgers.edu) at Rutgers University as a full-time staff Laboratory Researcher IV. Applications must be filed at the Rutgers University job page (http://uhr.rutgers.edu/jobs/JobDetai..._num=10-001036). The individual who fills this position will perform analysis of genome data using existing computational tools and interpretation and presentation of data and results to other lab members. The Bioinformaticist will be expected to train other lab members in use of specialized tools for genome research, contribute to manuscript and grant preparation, generate a genome database, and must have some ability with scripting languages to build and maintain bioinformatic pipelines.

    Qualifications and Experience
A bachelor's degree in a biological or computer science or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience is required. The candidate should have experience with genome assembly software and downstream analyses such as functional annotation, phylogenetics, and comparative genomics. Prior knowledge of evolutionary biology and molecular evolution at the college level is required. 16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
