System engineers/bioinformaticians wanted for SciLifeLab Data Centre, Uppsala, Sweden

SciLifeLab (www.scilifelab.se) is looking for system engineers/bioinformaticians to work on development of systems for whole genome sequencing data. These include systems for data from Nordic reference populations, imputation of genetic data, and secure systems for managing controlled access for research data on human samples. SciLifeLab Data Centre promote following principles of Open Science, with openness, transparency and reproducibility for Swedish research data. This position requires close cooperation and good communication with both researchers, technical and administrative personnel. The work is in close collaboration with international partners.

This position is placed at SciLifeLab in Uppsala, but in close cooperation with SciLifeLab in Solna. The successful candidate will be working at the SciLifeLab Data Centre, a newly formed unit with responsibility for IT- and data management issues, serving our technology platforms, their users and Swedish researchers in general. Working at the Data Centre, you will be at the core of Sweden's top infrastructure for life sciences and have the opportunity to actively shape how state-of-the-art IT services are integrated in Swedish life science research, and help to maximize the scientific impact of the large amount of research data generated at SciLifeLab.

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
