Position in Bioinformatics and Genomics: Personalized Medicine in Cancer
Location : Cancer Genomics Core Lab, Vall d’Hebron Institute of Oncology (VHIO), Barcelona, Spain
The Cancer Genomics Lab is located at Vall d’Hebron Hospital, a leading Institution in the conduct of early clinical studies with molecular targeted agents. At any given time, 25 to 30 early clinical trials are conducted with novel agents underway that target a broad spectrum of cancer genes and pathways. The Cancer Genomics facility is equipped with a HiSeq 2000 sequencer and hardware.
Duties for our bioinformatician will be to design, implement and optimise methodologies for the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data generated from cancer patient’s tumors as well as from collaborations with basic researchers in our institution.
Candidate Requirements
A high level of expertise in Unix/Linux systems and previous experience in bioinformatics are required. A good knowledge of Perl or Python are desired. Knowledge of other languages such as R, Java and C-C++ (in this order) is considered a plus. Previous experience with large-scale sequence analysis is also highly desirable.
Conditions
Full-time, 3 year contract with excellent prospects for renewal .
