Position Summary
We are looking for an Assistant Research Professor to join City of Hope Medical Center focusing on genomics and bioinformatics. (Annual Salary $105,000 - $125,000)
This role is to understand and apply state of the art genomic data analysis techniques to support lymphoma related clinical projects in collaboration with the Lymphoma Center at City of Hope. The candidate is expected to develop innovative workflow to apply bioinformatics and statistical analysis methods to large scale genomic data analysis. We are particularly interested in a candidate with experience in advanced single cell and bulk RNA-seq analysis, with innovative thinking. The job entails working with clinicians and experimentalists in the Lymphoma center and therefore the candidate should have strong communication skills.
Basic education, experience and skills required for consideration:
Ph.D. or M.D/Ph.D. degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Mathematics or Physics with strong background in genomic analysis
3+ years of relevant experience in applying statistical and computational methods to the analysis and visualization of complex genomics data.
Extensive knowledge of statistical analysis methods and models, mathematical and computational algorithm, such as machine learning algorithms.
Experience with genomic data integration and data mining
Proficient in R/Bioconductor programming
Experience working with NGS data, such as Illumina Hiseq/miSeq and PacBio SMRT sequencing
Experience with single cell RNA-seq data is required
Familiar with at least one programming languages, such as R/Perl/Python/JAVA/C++ with R or Python preferred
Familiar with Biological databases, such as GEO and TCGA
Familiar with open source and commercial software tools for genomic data analysis, such as BWA, TOPHAT, STAR, CUFFLINKS, IGV, VARSCAN, GATK, ANNOVAR, IPA, etc.
Knowledge of molecular biology preferred.
Experience with statistical, spreadsheet, graphics and word-processing software packages.
