    Support Scientist, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS)

    Job Description:
    Genomatix is looking for a motivated, high energy NGS Support Scientist to provide the scientific leadership for the US company’s NGS data analysis effort. This individual will perform data analyses on customer and prospective customer NGS data using the company’s comprehensive analysis platform, as well as provide scientific presentations to customers and prospective customers from the genomics industry. Additionally, this person will serve as the scientific liaison between the US operation and the parent company located in Munich, Germany, and will be expected to master at a deep scientific level the science underlying the company’s software and data content as it relates to NGS data analysis. The ability to articulate the subtleties and complexities of our analysis platform to people with widely diverse backgrounds and varying technical expertise will be a critical skill requirement.

    Requirements:
    • PhD in genetics, molecular biology, microbiology, or other genomic related field of study.
    • Hands on experience in NGS, with a focus on data management and analysis.
    • Quick study with a variety of software tools, some scripting capabilities.
    • Highly effective communicator with excellent presentation skills
    • Some level of IT skills is a plus.
    • Ability to think quickly under pressure with strong reasoning skills, to be able to translate a customer’s expressed need into a demonstrable solution.

    Desirable Attributes:
    • A strong network within the NGS community and its major centers and major players.
    • NGS relevant publications.
    • Knowledge of the medical implications/applications of NGS analyses.
