    Automation Engineer

    Description

The Automation Engineer contributes to the development and implementation of automated systems to support the Library samples processing in a human genome sequencing application. This individual collaborates within a team of scientists and engineers upon projects to conceptualize, design, develop, and implement automated systems aimed at optimizing the performance and increasing the efficiencies of the laboratory processes prior to sequencing. This individual works independently on new projects as well as production improvements, retrofits, and instrumentation changes. Principal responsibilities of this position include project leadership and direction, building rapport with equipment vendors, coordinate with cross functional projects teams, supervise and contribute to the systems development and integration, building of prototype equipment, and the documentation for equipment validation and operating procedures. Additional responsibilities include user training, troubleshooting, repairing, and optimizing automated systems, especially custom-built equipment.

    Qualifications

A BS or MS degree in engineering or closely related scientific field with a minimum of eight to ten years of experience. Technical proficiency and experience in automation and systems development and integration for the life science industry; especially with robotics and liquid handling systems. Supervisory experience is a plus. Strong project management skills, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills are required. Flexibility and self-initiative required to support several simultaneous automation projects. Ability to collaborate is required. Software tools development experience in one or more .Net languages (e.g. C#, and Visual Basic) and VBA is desirable. 16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
    by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
    by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
