  • qPCR Library Quantification

From reading other threads most people prefer the KAPA kits to run qPCR for library quantification. Can anyone tell me why these kits are superior to the SYBR green kits as my understanding is they're more expensive? If it to do with the standards being normalised could you not just use your own library to generate a standard curve with the SYBR green kits?
    Any advice most welcome!

We use the KAPA kit for convenience and because we know it works! The standards are premade, the sizing conversion is easy, and I've never had it fail.

Same here. It's incredibly easy to use and always gives reproducible results.

Can I ask if you are still sizing the libraries with the bioanalyser/tapestation? If not, how are you sizing the libraries?

Tapestation for size and initial quantification in the ballpark range. Kapa kit for actual dilution calculations.

Same for us. We use tapestation for quant and size to normalize so it ends up on our standard curve.

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
              by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
              by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
