Which Mira version should I install?

My home directory is on a linux cluster (SunOS i86pc i386 i86pc). I downloaded the lates version of Mira, but it always tells me "command not found". Which version should I install? Did I make other mistakes?

And what is the correct command to unpack the file? Why didn't I see a "bin" folder after unpacking?

Which file did you download? MIRA offers both precompiled binaries, and a source code bundle. If you get the source code you must compile it.

Thanks maubp. What I downloaded is "mira-3.4.0.tar.bz2". I used "bzip2 -dc mira-3.4.0.tar.bz2|tar -xf -" to unpack it.

I don't understand the difference between precompile binaries and sournce code bundle. I read the installation very carefully but still don't understand I saw all files (older version or newest version) are tar.bz2 files. Can you please tell me the difference and what "compile" means?

mira_3.4.0_prod_linux-gnu_x86_64_static.tar.bz2 = pre-compiled for 64bit Linux

mira_3.4.0_prod_linux-gnu_i686_32_static.tar.bz2 = pre-compiled for 32bit Linux

mira-3.4.0.tar.bz2 = source code which you must compile yourself (e.g. if using Mac OS X).

If you have a 32bit Linux machine, try the 32bit binaries. If you have a 64bit Linux machine, try the 64 bit binaries. Otherwise you'll have to compile it yourself...

That can be downloaded from here:

MIRA has a lot of dependencies and the last time I checked SunOS != Linux, so there are *no* precompiled binaries for your system.

MIRA should compile on Solaris/OpenSolaris but according to the documentation 'some care is needed'. You may wish to talk to your systems administrator to help you get the package installed.

I didn't know Solaris is not linux (it's unix, right?). I did try "mira_3.4.0_prod_linux-gnu_i686_32_static.tar.bz2" as Bukowski suggested. But when I execute it, it tells me "Segmentation Fault (core dumped)". Does that indicate the program doesn't fit?

I will have to figure out how to compile it on Solaris. Thanks a lot for you guys!
