  • Difference between human sequence and virus sequence

    Hi,All.
I want to know the difference between human sequence and virus sequence. Is there anyone can help me?
    Thanks a lot!

The human sequence is much longer.

sorry... I only have short length sequences come from Illumina Hiseq.

        Which virus?

To expand on adaptivegenome's comment, viral genomes tend to be thousands of bases whereas the human genome is billions of bases. However "human" denotes a single species, whereas "virus" could mean any of millions of different organisms. Past that it is difficult to give an answer to such a general question.

If you have some human DNA or RNA that includes viral genomes or transcripts, you could try mapping the Illumina data to the human genome then assembling the non-mapping reads. You could then check the source of the resulting contigs by blasting them against genbank, or some curated database. If you have viral sequence in there it will probably hit other viruses.

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
          by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
          by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
