I'm trying to install MACS version 1.4.2 and I have python version 2.7.4 installed in Ubuntu. The MACS website says Python version must be 2.6 or 2.7 and it fails to install for me saying "macs depends on python2.6". How can I install it and will it work with 2.7.4 or do I have to downgrade to 2.6 (or 2.7?).

Might not be picking up your version of python.should indicate what version of python you have,Code:python -V
will indicate which binary of python is being used (in case you have multiple versions in play). Is your pythonpath env variable set correctly? Are you pointing to the correct python libraries?Code:which python
The other option is going from source. Even if you don't use the compiled binary, it'll probably spit out an error message if your install fails, and that will also be useful in troubleshooting.
It looks like MACS bundles with a setup.py, so a python setup.py install --user should install MACS locally.Last edited by ctseto; 11-14-2013, 12:15 PM.

Proteomics platforms are evolving rapidly, with advances in mass spectrometry and affinity-based approaches expanding what researchers can detect and at what scale. As the field moves toward deeper proteome coverage and clinical applications, scientists face an increasingly complex landscape of tools. This article will explore how researchers are navigating these choices to find the right platform for their work.
The systematic characterization of the human proteome has...-

Genomics studies in neuroscience face a special challenge due to the brain’s complexity and scarcity of samples. Mapping changes in cell type and state using conventional next-generation sequencing methods remains challenging. Advances in technologies like single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and long-read sequencing have opened the door to deeper studies of the brain and diseases like Alzheimer’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and schizophrenia.

Cancer survival rates have significantly increased in the last few decades in the United States, reaching a combined 70% 5-year survival rate by 2021. Behind this number, there are years of research to find new therapies, drug targets, and early detection methods. But there is one core challenge that keeps slowing down these advances, and it’s about drug resistance.
There is no single reason why many patients don’t respond to treatment as expected. Cancer is...-
