  • Bacterial genes database download

    Hello All,

I have one question which may be basic to some of you, anyways I would like to download nucleotide sequences for all genes of Bacteria Kingdom (or its GI list, so I can filter nr/nt database), I tried the following trials, but I am still have some problems:

    1. I tried to search gene database using this inquiry "txid2[Organism:exp]", then send to -> file -> but there are no FASTA or GI list formats.

    2. I downloaded ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/genomes/Bacteria/all.ffn.tar.gz, but it contains Archeal genes as well, which I would like to filter out. As I wrote in the previous point, I have no GI list for only bacterial genes.

I would like to do local blast using this database, any suggestions?

    Regards,

    mhadidi
