    b.p. or nt - which is correct?

    Maybe a simple question, but what is your preferred style for listing DNA length in a publication. Do you use b.p. for double stranded DNA and nt for single stranded DNA or RNA? Then there is the kb vs. knt possibility (if ever?) Is there anywhere where preferred style is found, do some journals have a preference?

    bp/kb is what I have generally seen used.

      Oligo makers describe their ssDNA oligos as 20 bases or nucleotides. I wouldn't use bp for ssDNA. It does raise some fine hair-splitting questions: if you are cloning by restriction digestion, how do you describe the resulting fragment that is dsDNA plus ssDNA overhangs? Most people would describe it as the length between the cut sites, like 374 bp, even though only 370 nucleotides are base paired.
