  • How to find miR star ( * ) sequencs mirBase 21

I am trying to get microRNAs labeled as * (star) from miRBase.

Does mirBase 21 has * sequences yet? If not, how do I determine whether an * sequence is now -3p or -5p?

And how in case of microRNAs that not represented as -3p or -5p???

    Answers are highly appreciated.

Your question is very confusing. Could you please rephrase it? Something like this would be more useful:

"I have some sequences that have asterisks in them, for example, 'ACTG****TTGA". I found these sequences using protocol X (please describe in great detail). They are from organism Y and my goal is to accomplish Z. How can I match them to existing sets of sequence data?"

Additionally, you're more likely to get answers if your header is spelled correctly and is informative about what you are trying to accomplish. Currently, it seems like an X-Y problem.

I think the * nomenclature OP is referring to is described in this FAQ.

You are probably correct. I still don't understand the OP's question, though.

          Dear

It is exactly the answer of my question. Thanks in advance.

However, as I checked for many miRNAs, I think in the latest version of miRBase (21) miR star sequences have been excluded!

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
            by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
            by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
