I am considering funding a research project that does 16S rRNA sequencing of microbiome samples (i.e. poop) in a case control non clinical study. The goal is to characterize the differences between the case and control groups, and to explore possible subgroups within the case group as well.
Being a neophyte in the application of this technology, I have a few questions:
I would expect for the analysis piece there would be alignments done with known genomes with population counts and also recording of novel genomes that may be discovered that have no correlation with known genomes.
Also, any suggestions on this type of study that someone might share would be very useful. There are strong indications that the phenotype in question here has a high association with dysbiosis of the microbiome, so I think this type of study would be a good starting point to help us better understand it.
Thanks much!
Kevin
Being a neophyte in the application of this technology, I have a few questions:
- What is the cost of doing microbiome sequencing of this type per sample?
- What are the costs for data analysis of the resulting data per sample?
- Where can i get this type of service done?
