  • Just say hello (new guy from BGI Shenzhen,China)

    Hi all !

My id here is "node" and my name is Gentle Yang ("子江" in Chinese).

I have fallen in Bioinformatics from Aug. 2007 ,and the following is my work title:
    1. IT development: use Java and Python as server side tech, and use DHTML+AJAX(Jquery) , FLEX/Flash ,JavaFX as client side tech.
    2. Data visulization : SVG
    3. Molecular evolution and phylogenetics : Comparative genomics
    4. Short reads assembly under the 2nd and 3rd gen sequencing tech.

And I like this area, although I'm planning do pure IT next year .

Just say hi to everyone. Hope there be a good time.

Sorry for forget something about BGI Shenzhen in China.

I saw some guys' talk about BGI in another post,so here is some introduction about it:
1 BGI is a big Genome center in China ,also in Asia ; and BGI says it is the bigest center in Asia and the third center in the world. (This is not my personal opinion

2 There are both Illumina solexa GA and ABI SoLiD in BGI,and the number is not small (I mean not only one or two,but more) !

3 Knome is a famous company about personal genome service, and BGI is the behind service provider !

4 Now these are so many big or small projects in BGI,and these projects refer to many areas from YH project, cucumber, panda ... and other teamwork projects like 1000 genome ...

5 Welcome to BGI and Shenzhen,China ! This is a good place .

Genetic Variation in Immunogenetics and Antibody Diversity
              by seqadmin

The field of immunogenetics explores how genetic variations influence immune responses and susceptibility to disease. In a recent SEQanswers webinar, Oscar Rodriguez, Ph.D., Postdoctoral Researcher at the University of Louisville, and Ruben Martínez Barricarte, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Medicine at Vanderbilt University, shared recent advancements in immunogenetics. This article discusses their research on genetic variation in antibody loci, antibody production processes,...

              Choosing Between NGS and qPCR
              by seqadmin

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) are essential techniques for investigating the genome, transcriptome, and epigenome. In many cases, choosing the appropriate technique is straightforward, but in others, it can be more challenging to determine the most effective option. A simple distinction is that smaller, more focused projects are typically better suited for qPCR, while larger, more complex datasets benefit from NGS. However,...
