  • Newbler 2.7 on i686 (64 bit) CentOS issues

    Hello,

I'm having some issues with four (4) 32 bit libraries on CentOS 6.2 when trying to install Newbler 2.7. I need CentOS for compatibility reasons (unrelated to Newbler) and I also need to have the GUI operational.

The libraries that are missing are:

    zlib.i386
    libXi.i386
    libXtst.i386
    libXaw.i386

    Any suggestions for a workaround?

    Thanks,
    CH

    Hello

i just made it work on a CentOS 6.2 64bit. To the the 32 bit libraries installed you may find help in this post (http://seqanswers.com/forums/archive...hp/t-8944.html).

Here's what you need to do:
    1. Open the terminal
    2. Type "su" without the "" to become root
    3. Paste the following: "yum install zlib.i686 libXi.i686 libXtst.i686 libXaw.i686" again without the "".
    4. Install the software (use "run in terminal" if you use the GUI.

    Enjoy ...

      Solved the problem:

Installed the following packages (attached as archive) by double clicking.

Thanks for the quick response - I just went to the CentOS RPM repos and manually download the packages I needed. I've uploaded them as an archive.

        Cheers,

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
          by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...

          Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
          by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...
