  • Cost per run on GAII

Does anyone know the current cost per run for the GAII, in terms of consumables etc.? How much does it change if you're just doing one lane? Any help would be awesome.

    Hi,
Here are my numbers which I give absolutely no guarantees on! They are a pretty good indication of the consumables needed per lane including flow cell and sequencing reagents. All costs assume one lane is used for PhiX and the other lanes share that cost. The numbers in brackets are what we currently exepct to get from a 36bp kit. We will wait and see what formats the new kits will come in, here's hoping for a 150bp sequencing kit!
I hope you are all as stunned as I was when I saw that a 2x150bp lane costs only £1450 (£10K per flow cell). This brings the possibility of nearly 20M 250bp contigs using a 2x150bp read from a 250bp insert library. What can you NOT do with that?

    1 lane of SE sequencing without library prep 36bp (44) £ 375
    1 lane of SE sequencing without library prep 72bp (88) £ 500
    1 lane of SE sequencing without library prep 108bp (132) £ 650
    1 lane of SE sequencing without library prep 144bp (176) £ 750

    1 lane of PE sequencing without library prep 36bp (44) £ 700
    1 lane of PE sequencing without library prep 72bp (88) £ 950
    1 lane of PE sequencing without library prep 108bp (132) £ 1200
    1 lane of PE sequencing without library prep 144bp (176) £ 1450

Thanks for the info, James. Greatly appreciated.

Do people know if James' info is in line with what users end up paying in the US? Do they quote out lower prices for volume users?

What is the current cost of fragment library preps and number of sequences per lane on good runs?

up to 18M reads on GA2, should be almost 20M on a good day from GA2x pipeline 1.4.
Library preps are about £250 per sample from Illumina but the oligo only kit can reduce this substantially. It is very dependant on which kit you want to use.

We cost about USD 1400 dollars per lane with 75bpXII PE sequencing per lane.

I think the core facility I've been using charges us about $450 per lane. I was told it will increase though, perhaps about 10%.

Advanced Tools Transforming the Field of Cytogenomics
                by seqadmin

At the intersection of cytogenetics and genomics lies the exciting field of cytogenomics. It focuses on studying chromosomes at a molecular scale, involving techniques that analyze either the whole genome or particular DNA sequences to examine variations in structure and behavior at the chromosomal or subchromosomal level. By integrating cytogenetic techniques with genomic analysis, researchers can effectively investigate chromosomal abnormalities related to diseases, particularly...

                by seqadmin

Cancer research has been transformed through numerous molecular techniques, with RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) playing a crucial role in understanding the complexity of the disease. Maša Ivin, Ph.D., Scientific Writer at Lexogen, and Yvonne Goepel Ph.D., Product Manager at Lexogen, remarked that “The high-throughput nature of RNA-seq allows for rapid profiling and deep exploration of the transcriptome.” They emphasized its indispensable role in cancer research, aiding in biomarker...
