13-04-13 13:58:33.872 +01 000000017 INF: Selector valve "ReagentValve" timed out on attempt #1: "ReagentValve: '+08\r' command timed out waiting 60000/60000 ms for any of "'*','\r'"; received ''

Hi, we are running the Maintenance wash in the MiSeq with the latest MCS 2.2 and we get this error message at the very end of the wash. We've reproduced it 5 times (restarted software, turned power off for 10 min, etc, etc) now and Illumina support says that it is a broken valve and they will have to replace it, but we really need to run a sample and the replacement but I fear it will take too long.

Has anybody had this problem? Any quick fixes that could save us ?

There's nothing you can do if the valve is dead, it's a hardware problem and the valve needs replacing. Has this MiSeq been upgraded to v2? I'm surprised to hear that there are still valve issues even with the redesigned valve.

yeap, but I'm not sure if we ever did get the valve replaced.. I remember the tech mentioned something about replacing it, but I'm not sure if he finally did replace it.

Recent Advances in Sequencing Analysis Tools
        by seqadmin

The sequencing world is rapidly changing due to declining costs, enhanced accuracies, and the advent of newer, cutting-edge instruments. Equally important to these developments are improvements in sequencing analysis, a process that converts vast amounts of raw data into a comprehensible and meaningful form. This complex task requires expertise and the right analysis tools. In this article, we highlight the progress and innovation in sequencing analysis by reviewing several of the...

Essential Discoveries and Tools in Epitranscriptomics
        by seqadmin

The field of epigenetics has traditionally concentrated more on DNA and how changes like methylation and phosphorylation of histones impact gene expression and regulation. However, our increased understanding of RNA modifications and their importance in cellular processes has led to a rise in epitranscriptomics research. “Epitranscriptomics brings together the concepts of epigenetics and gene expression,” explained Adrien Leger, PhD, Principal Research Scientist...
