    Can anyone start a library prep company for Illumina sequencing?

    Hi everyone
    I have a quick question. Illumina makes its adapter sequences known to the public through documents. Suppose one were to start his/her own company that manufactures NGS library prep kits.
    Does that person have to inform Illumina and get permission?
    Does that person have to pay a royalty?
    What are the legal issues here, if any?
