Next-generation tutorial

Hi everyone!

I am a new biochemistry graduate student. I have started working with next-generation sequencing. During my undergraduate studies, I learned the Sanger method very well but not the former. I have looked at google and youtube for starting tutorials (even Illumina), but I am still confused. For example, I am confused with adaptors.

Does anyone know of an online tutorial video?

Someone posted a thread about a course on https://www.edx.org/ called PH525x Data Analysis for Genomics. You should still be able to sign up for it. If you do, then watching the "Next Generation Sequencing Technologies" lectures in week 2 will probably give you a good idea about what's going on. If I recall correctly, the videos give a bit more info than your typical intro that's on YouTube.

As far as info about adaptors, it doesn't go into an extremely rigorous explanation, but I think it's good enough to get the idea from what I remember.
