Has anyone had a problem with the RFID reader with the NextSeq 500 sequencer? I believe this is the problem I am having with mine as it doesn't recognize or cannot read the flow cells when either trying to wash or run samples.

We have run into this problem twice before. Illumina recommended power cycling the instrument (close out of all programs, hold power button on the front of instrument until it completely turns off, wait 5 minutes, power back on.). This has worked on both occasions. Good luck! -

Data variability is still an issue in sequencing technologies despite the advances in reproducibility and accuracy of these platforms. But the problem does not originate in the sequencing itself, but in the previous steps, before the sample reaches the sequencer.
The first step is collection, followed by preservation and sample preparation for analysis. Most scientists overlook those steps, but not being careful might just be skewing the experiment’s results.
