Live webinar on Integrated Analysis using Metadata Framework and Correlation Analysis in GeneSpring 13 - Glioblastoma case study

Presented by Agilent Technologies and Strand Life Sciences

    Abstract
Agilent Technologies GeneSpring® offers an intuitive and interactive environment for integrated analysis of transcriptomics, metabolomics, proteomics and NGS data within a biological context. This ability is now further enhanced by introduction of metadata framework and correlation analysis in GeneSpring 13.

Metadata analysis framework allows researchers to visualize the abundance profiles of samples alongside metadata such as clinical, physiological, or technology related information. Ideal for large datasets, metadata framework enables users to reveal tacit dependencies between characteristics of the subjects or samples and their gene, metabolite, or protein expression profiles. Correlation, on the other hand, is a statistical technique and measures the strength and directionality of linear relationship between two quantitative variables.

In this webinar, using the expression values, copy number and associated metadata for 173 Glioblastoma Multiforme (GBM) samples from TCGA, we will highlight and demonstrate the metadata framework and correlation functionality of GeneSpring. Specifically, we will focus on:
    • Identification of molecular subtypes in tumor samples using clustering and correlation analysis
    • Relationship between molecular subtypes and copy number aberrations using metadata analysis framework
    • Correlation analysis between mRNA and micro-RNA expression

    Speakers:
Dr. Durairaj Renu, Senior Applications Scientist, Strand Life Sciences
Dr. Carolina Livi, Bioinformatics Segment Manager, Agilent Technologies

Improved Targeted Sequencing: A Comprehensive Guide to Amplicon Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Amplicon sequencing is a targeted approach that allows researchers to investigate specific regions of the genome. This technique is routinely used in applications such as variant identification, clinical research, and infectious disease surveillance. The amplicon sequencing process begins by designing primers that flank the regions of interest. The DNA sequences are then amplified through PCR (typically multiplex PCR) to produce amplicons complementary to the targets. RNA targets...

Targeted Sequencing: Choosing Between Hybridization Capture and Amplicon Sequencing
    by seqadmin

Targeted sequencing is an effective way to sequence and analyze specific genomic regions of interest. This method enables researchers to focus their efforts on their desired targets, as opposed to other methods like whole genome sequencing that involve the sequencing of total DNA. Utilizing targeted sequencing is an attractive option for many researchers because it is often faster, more cost-effective, and only generates applicable data. While there are many approaches...
