used and unused reads in velvet

Hi all, i m new to NGS assembly. I found this to be a nice place for discussion. I started off with velvet and ran the options of velveth and velvetg.

It gave me following results at the end.

***Final graph has 16 nodes and n50 of 24184, max 44966, total 100080, using 0/142858 reads****


When i used -unused reads yes option i get the following results which seems to be ok.
****Final graph has 16 nodes and n50 of 24184, max 44966, total 100080, using 135855/142858 reads****

Now, my query is in the "using 0/142858 reads", which it says only 0 reads were used ? Why is it 0/142858 Or does it mean something else.Could i please know the difference?

hi,

atlast i found the answer. Until i use '-read_trkg' my used reads are not counted. When this option is not used reads are not tracked and displays 0/total reads..Hope this helps someone..:P
