Hybrid assembly with Illumina and SOLiD data

    Hi,

I am trying to assemble a genome from using SOLiD and Illumina paired end data. I have about 30x coverage from Illumina and a similar level from SOLiD. What would be a good assembly program for this? One point I was wondering was that color space assemblers like velvet do not take base space output, so would be okay to convert base space to colorspace? Color space to base space is not recommended as any errors will propagate throughout the read but the other way round should be fine.

    hi,
if you convert base to color space you will have 2 consecutive color space errors for each illumina sequencing errors instead of only one in your color space reads. Not sure this is a good idea to then gathered both set into one to feed to assemblers. I see some projects concerning hybrid assembly with llumina and 454 reads but i've no idea about treating hybrid assembly with solexa and SOLiD.
    best regards,
    kevin.

16S/ITS Profiling vs. Shotgun Metagenomics: What Changes in Your Workflow?
      by SEQadmin2

NGS has revolutionized clinical microbiology by offering new ways to identify and surveil pathogens without prior knowledge of the target. One popular approach is 16S rRNA and ITS amplicon sequencing, which targets specific microbial markers. But studies are increasingly incorporating shotgun metagenomics, a technique that sequences all DNA from a sample without targeting specific microbial markers. This approach allows more detailed taxonomic classification, detection...

Multiomic Liquid Biopsy: What DNA/RNA Panels Reveal That DNA Alone Can’t
      by SEQadmin2

Tumors contain complex mixtures of cell populations that evolve in response to treatment and host-specific factors. Tissue biopsies provide only static snapshots of a tumor’s state. But what if we could follow that evolution over time using a minimally invasive technique?

Liquid biopsies can detect tumor-derived material circulating in the bloodstream, providing a way to study treatment response, detect emerging resistance, and discover new biomarkers. Circulating
