Did anyone has the idea of what changes in True seq mRNA/smallRNA sample prep kit by Illumina?

I'm interested in the details of this as well, specifically because we're doing R & D for non-bias amplification with bar-coding. We got there...and now they are "phasing out" the flow cells that go with what we have working (grr).
Anyway, this is as far as we can get out of them for now: TruSeq™ Sample Prep Kit and Cluster Kit Compatibility. I'm sure as soon as someone drop clones the prepped sample and has it sequenced, Illumina will release the sequence (it's not like we all can't figure it out).
Good luck, and I encourage anyone who gets there first to sequence the bits and share the info! I will sure do so. -
Illumina will be releasing sequences for Tru-Seq, at least that's what they told us in a seminar. Oligo only also sonds like it wil be coming but how many people out there really want the hassle of creating DIY kits. It does not look like many £ or $ wil be saved. Of course if you are developing a protocol the kits might not be the right thing to use.
The Tru-Seq RNA sampe prep kit does not look like it does strand-specific so I guess they might still recommend their own experimental protocol using the smallRNA kits.
Can anyone say why the Parkhomchuk method would not be possible with a modified Illumina Tru-Seq RNA sample prep kit?Comment

Well for large projects using automation DIY kits are always going to be the way to go.Comment

They said they will eventually release the strand specific protocol but having used the new TruSeq kits for small RNA and mRNA it is pretty easy to just modify the existing protocol with the new kits to generate strand specific libraries.Originally posted by james hadfield View PostComment

The Parkhomchuk method incorporates Uracil that is then degraded at a later step. My understanding is that there is IP around this that would prevent companies from releasing kits without paying licence fees. It should work fine.Comment
