For anyone who's used the Covaris, I have a question: can I store sheared gDNA in the same manner that one would store unsheared gDNA? I need to do long-term storage for some sheared samples. Currently they are frozen at -80 in nuclease-free water. Are there any other steps I should take?

I never stored sheared gDNA after Covaris. I just had the feeling that broken ends would facilitate the degradation by nucleases, even at -20 or -80. I always did the end-repair step as well. But this is not based on any literature, just personal feeling! :-)
In this way I stored samples for 6 months and afterwards they were fine. I believe you could store them even longer.
