  • AxyPrep Mag FragmentSelect Kits

    Hi everybody,

I've been contacted and received some information from vendors about the AxyPrep Mag FragmentSelect Kits, being marketed as a perfect and cheaper alternative to the Ampure XP beads for library preparation and size selection. According to their documentation, they would even have a much better yield for similar size selection.
Although they seem to be much cheaper, I was wondering if anyone here ever tried them, and/or had some information about their performance relative to the Ampure XP beads.
I'm currently using the Ampure XP beads and am very happy with their performance, but their price definitively is a point that could be improved.

    Thanks for your input.

    Hello FroggyFlox,
I'm in the same situation. Have you test the AxyPrep Frag Select since you posted this topic?
    Thanks!

Our group has been using the AxyPrep Mag PCR Cleanup beads in our Illumina library construction methods with good results.

Hi there -- anyone interested in getting free samples of EpiNext beads? They are higher yield alternatives to AMPure for less than half the price. Message me for the link.

MU Core, are the AxyPrep Mag PCR cleanup beads used in exactly the same way as the AMPure XP ones for Illumina protocols (TruSeq library preps)? We are thinking of trying them but wanted some reassurance from someone who has used them that they are as good and don't require protocol tweaking. Thanks

stacey82, the beads are substituted with no alterations to the protocol. We've yet to experience an issue and have been using the beads for several months.

                Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
                by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
