    polymorphic and conserved genes

    Hi everyone!

I'm interested in finding genes which are generally considered to be a) highly polymorphic (possibly driven by balancing selection), and b) conserved ('stable'). I'm looking for genes that fulfill these general properties for different organisms. For a), I would e.g. consider MHC-genes, and for b) housekeeping genes (but which ones)?
I'd be happy if you have suggestions for further such genes or gene classes, or possible resources (publications etc) where I could find them.

    Thank you!

It would be helpful if you specified the platform(s) you are using, organism(s), and library type (DNA, RNA, etc).

I'm less interested in such genes because of technical reasons, but more in terms of evolution. So which genes/gene classes are generally thought to be rather conserved through evolution, and which ones are rather variable (e.g., balancing selection ...).
