Question about RNA quality for RNA seq

Hi there,

I'm new to RNA seq, and I just tried to isolate some total RNA from mouse sciatic nerve and dorsal root ganglion. But the the RNA concentration is really low and when I used the RNA tape station to measure the quality of the RNA, it looked like a lot of them were degraded. So I wonder if somebody could tell me if it's possible to use these RNA for RNA seq.

Hello,
I'm not familiar with the tape station as we use Agilent Bioanalyzer. But I don't think your RNA is as degraded as you think. It's just that you end up with a lot of small RNAs.
What's your smaple concentration in the end? And how much material do you have?
We've built libraries from 300 ng of total RNA using the Truseq stranded RNA kit and it worked fine...

The RNA looks good. We've made RNA-Seq libraries from 500 pg using NuGen V2
