  • Tool for genome annotation correction

    Hi,

Does anybody know some tool to correct genome annotations?

    Thanks in advance!

It depends on what you want to do, are you preparing a genome submission yourself, or want to submit changes to an NCBI annotated genome? Or just clean up your own copy for internal use?

We want to clean up the annotation. Some genes are shown as more than one due to frameshifts generating stop codons. Frameshift seem to occur because homopolimers

Are the frameshifts just due to sequence errors? Or actually occur biologically?

NCBI's submission tools might be able to help you find the annotations that have the problem, but they're a bit of a pain to work with. You would need to convert your annotations list to their 5 column table format, and then use tbl2asn to validate the features listed in the table.

Thanks milw, we will try with NCBI's submission tools
