  • fastX barcode splitter

I am trying to use fastX barcode splitter perl script on my fastq file. However, every time I run the program I get this message Error: barcode file not specified (use '--bcfile [FILENAME]'). All I am doing is dragging the perl script into terminal, and dragging the fastq file into the terminal and hit enter and that what i get. Can anybody please help me

Drag and drop is probably not going to work. Instead open the terminal and then on the command line prompt run the program (you will have to take care of all file paths) following the usage example shown here: http://hannonlab.cshl.edu/fastx_tool...splitter_usage

To expound a bit on GenoMax's reply, you're only dragging and dropping part of the full command (the error message you received indicates this). In addition to the perl script and the fastq file, you need to type " --bcfile " and then drag the file specifying the barcodes after that. Reading error messages will usually allow you to figure out what's wrong.

        Choosing Between NGS and qPCR
        by seqadmin

Next-generation sequencing (NGS) and quantitative polymerase chain reaction (qPCR) are essential techniques for investigating the genome, transcriptome, and epigenome. In many cases, choosing the appropriate technique is straightforward, but in others, it can be more challenging to determine the most effective option. A simple distinction is that smaller, more focused projects are typically better suited for qPCR, while larger, more complex datasets benefit from NGS. However,...

        Non-Coding RNA Research and Technologies
        by seqadmin

Non-coding RNAs (ncRNAs) do not code for proteins but play important roles in numerous cellular processes including gene silencing, developmental pathways, and more. There are numerous types including microRNA (miRNA), long ncRNA (lncRNA), circular RNA (circRNA), and more. In this article, we discuss innovative ncRNA research and explore recent technological advancements that improve the study of ncRNAs.
