FLX Titanium for RNA-seq?

Hi,

the Roche website shows that FLX can be used for transcriptomics.

Although one can get up to 1kb for each read, the coverage is really small in comparison to Illumina's HiSeq2000 (1 million reads/run vs. 60 million). I wonder if anyone has knowledge on transcriptomics/RNA-seq using FLX system? is the coverage sufficient for the type of study?

That depends how much money you have. I'd definitely use the Illumina or Solid system for RNA-seq, especially if you have a reference genome. I haven't been too convinced by the limited number of reads produced by 454 for transcriptomic studies, even for bacterial genomes. If you're looking at eukaryotes go for Illumina.
