  • Delivery problem for emPCR kits

We ordered emPCR (Lib-L) kits several weeks ago but we still haven't seen anything. We were informed that there might be a problem and it could take some more time to receive the kits.

Does anyone has the same problem? And does anyone know if these kits (especially the oils) can be bought somewhere else?

We were having problems getting our hands on the sequencing kits. I think they may be available again now, I haven't checked.

Roche's supply chain for 454 consumables leaves a lot to be desired.

I was told a consignment of emPCR kits was due in Mannheim on the 10th but a week later we still don’t have them – very annoying.

        The Mannheim fairytale sounds familiar.

Sequencing kits were on backorder for a few weeks, but they've now been released. Haven't had any recent trouble getting emPCR kits in the states.

We've had a lot of issues getting our hands on kits (Lib L for junior and the maintenance kits in particular), some info we've gathered in the process that might be helpful.

We get inconsistent information about estimated delivery times from Roche customer services, apparently the 454 kit uses a different ordering system internally and there are three people in UK customer services that are specialists in that system. My advice is to ask for Liz, and failing that the customer services manager Matt Dale who will have more accurate info.

The Oil and Breaking subkit is still on back order for the UK.

There is no freezer in the UK distribution centre so UK kits aren't stockpiled to buffer against future delays. Roche are now looking at getting one.

I resent paying for (and waiting for) a maintenance kit that consists entirely of bleach and tween.

              Current Approaches to Protein Sequencing
              by seqadmin

Proteins are often described as the workhorses of the cell, and identifying their sequences is key to understanding their role in biological processes and disease. Currently, the most common technique used to determine protein sequences is mass spectrometry. While still a valuable tool, mass spectrometry faces several limitations and requires a highly experienced scientist familiar with the equipment to operate it. Additionally, other proteomic methods, like affinity assays, are constrained...

              Strategies for Sequencing Challenging Samples
              by seqadmin

Despite advancements in sequencing platforms and related sample preparation technologies, certain sample types continue to present significant challenges that can compromise sequencing results. Pedro Echave, Senior Manager of the Global Business Segment at Revvity, explained that the success of a sequencing experiment ultimately depends on the amount and integrity of the nucleic acid template (RNA or DNA) obtained from a sample. “The better the quality of the nucleic acid isolated...
