Combine Nextera and Nextera XT in one lane

Hello!

We are preparing libraries for another HiSeq 4000 run and would like to combine samples prepared with both Nextera and Nextera XT kits onto one lane if possible.

Has anybody done this before and was it successful?

If so, how did you handle the indexes? I noticed a few threads in which the indexes from one kit were used successfully with the other; is this the ideal way to ensure that each pair is unique?

Nextera XT and Nextera libraries can be pooled and sequenced in the same lane as long as they have different indices. Some index sequences are shared between two kits and to avoid mix up, libraries containing the same indexes should not be sequenced together. Pooling will be easier if you have not done bead normalisation step with XT libraries.
