    Caliper GX

    Greetings,

We're looking into purchasing a Caliper GX I or II. It's application would be mainly as a substitute to manual gel running but would also be used in some Next Gen library prep steps. Does anyone have any experience with these instruments and how well they work? Thanks in advance.

This one is full automated and has much lower sample costs.
We are very happy with it.
I don't think the Fragment Analyzer has the ability to size select like the Calipers do. If you contact Caliper, we found them open to coming in a demo-ing in the lab on a few of your samples.

Removed nightfly's post and edited the quote as he was clearly posting an advertisement. Apologies for not catching it faster.

We have been using a caliper GX for the last 18 months, mainly for routine analysis of PCR products and sequencing libraries. Performance in our hands is basically equivalent to the Agilent bioanalyzer, but with the advantage of throughput. We still use the bioanalyzer for experiments with <24 samples, and for high-sensitivity apps. We had a few problems with the machine initially, but these were fixed quickly. It now runs pretty much solidly 3-4 days a week, and has done without problem for at least 9 months.
        hope this helps

Beyond CRISPR/Cas9: Understand, Choose, and Use the Right Genome Editing Tool
          by SEQadmin2

CRISPR/Cas9 sparked the gene editing revolution for both research and therapeutics.1 But this system still showed severe issues that limited its applications. The most prominent were the heavy reliance on PAM sequences, delivery limitations, double-stranded breaks that prompt unintended edits and cell death, and editing inefficiency (both in targeting and in knock-in reliability).

Despite this, “CRISPR helped turn genome editing from a specialized technique into

          by SEQadmin2

Proteomics platforms are evolving rapidly, with advances in mass spectrometry and affinity-based approaches expanding what researchers can detect and at what scale. As the field moves toward deeper proteome coverage and clinical applications, scientists face an increasingly complex landscape of tools. This article will explore how researchers are navigating these choices to find the right platform for their work.

Advanced Sequencing Platforms Tackle Neuroscience’s Toughest Genomics Problems
          by SEQadmin2

Genomics studies in neuroscience face a special challenge due to the brain’s complexity and scarcity of samples. Mapping changes in cell type and state using conventional next-generation sequencing methods remains challenging. Advances in technologies like single-cell sequencing, spatial transcriptomics, and long-read sequencing have opened the door to deeper studies of the brain and diseases like Alzheimer’s, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), and schizophrenia.
