Where sequenced, how was it, and cost?

Hi folks,

I am doing an analysis of all 454 sequencing centers in the US for costs and experience with the facility. I am more interested in metagenomic experiences, but feel free to share genomic experiences also.

Please share as much detail as you can such as: the size of the run, the cost, did you submit DNA or a prepped library, how many good quality reads did you get back, what were the average length, how long did it take from submission to data file back, etc.

Love this - good data definitely starts from good input, and poor input can only give relatively poor data. I particularly like the mention of Nanodrop/absorbance based methods for quantification. It's such a toss up if you'll get an accurate reading or what amounts to a randomly generated number, and a lot of library/sequencing related issues can be traced back to poor quant.
