There is definitely a variability between the SV and LV kits. With the new LV oil, I see a distinct clear layer after the emulsion PCR, but with SV, there is not a clear layer in all of them. Not sure if the cpb are transferable from SV to LV. Only thing I suggest is to aim low when it comes to cpb and CAREFULLY detect the broken emulsions (I explained how I do this above) and make sure to take them out before breaking.
