    Buccal DNA

We're pondering some experimental designs, some of which include buccal DNA extraction and sequencing.

I suppose it works, seeing as I've found a few posters and such on the internet, but would like to get the learn-ed community's thoughts on the matter.

Kit preferences? Noted library biases? General comments or warnings?

    best practices

My suggestion would be to closely follow/adapt best practices in sample handling/preparation/analysis performed by certified commercial labs in paternity and forensic testing for many years. Another source of established procedures for next gen sequencing would be the military. This technology might not show up in journal articles.
